Finding Balance: Trim Training Underwater
Scuba diving student practicing trim position with instructor support underwater

Today’s exercise centered on trim — the ability to maintain a balanced, horizontal position in the water. By extending their arms with the instructor, students could feel how small shifts in posture, weight placement, and fin movement affect alignment. Good trim is critical for reducing drag, conserving energy, and moving efficiently underwater. While it often takes repeated practice to hold trim without support, this drill builds the awareness needed for divers to stay streamlined and in control.
